Unions request £200m investment to save Scunthorpe Steelworks
The future of Steel making in the North is again undertreat. With the proposal to close the 'Blast' Furnaces now confirmed and the opening of new 'Electric Arc' Furnaces on the Site not certain.

Northern trains are looking to Buy 450 new trains from one of these manufacturers Alston, CAF, Hitachi, Siemens or Stadler.
Will any of these trains or components be made in the North providing an opportunity to increase GDP per capita?

- Alstom has a Modernisation workshop at Widnes and a Bogie revamp facility at Crewe.
- CAF has a Train care centre at Chester.
- Hitachi has a Manufacturing facility at Newton Aycliffe and a Office/Lab at Cheadle.
- Siemens has an Assembly Plant At Goole.
- Stadler has a Service facility at Liverpool.
